Several MAAFS workshops have been approved for ABFDE recertification points. Please visit this page to see the current list, which includes information on required documentation.

ASQDE workshops and points for recertification
Hello Diplomates,
I’m sorry for the late notice. The three ASQDE workshops had been approved for 3 ABFDE points each. Approved workshops for the current year are posted in the Recertification submenu and here: https://abfde.org/workshops-approved-for-the-current-year/
Since the ASQDE conference was virtual and there was no separate registration for workshops, there will be no Workshop Attendance Records distributed or required. You can submit your ASQDE receipt or Certificate of Participation next recertification year to receive credit for both the conference and workshops. Please let me know if you have any questions about this.
If you will be presenting or hosting a workshop in the future and need assistance with applying for ABFDE approval, please contact the Continuing Education Chair, Sandy Raudabaugh.

More approved workshops!
Two workshops for the upcoming MAFS conference have been Board-approved, one on multi-faceted exams given by Todd Welch and the other on the VSC given by Mike Zontini. A new webpage, which can be found on the Recertification submenu, lists all Board-approved workshops for the upcoming year: https://abfde.org/workshops-approved-for-the-current-year/
Approval for workshops for the upcoming SWAFDE and ASQDE meeting is expected to be requested soon, so stay tuned!
Points for the 2020-2021 Recertification Year
Hello Diplomates,
Because it may be unusually difficult to fill out your recertification forms this year (given the virtual format of meetings and workshops), the Board has created a spreadsheet to facilitate this. It can be downloaded by clicking here. Please note the “Line” column that tells you the line number where that activity belongs on page 2 of the submission form. Also note the required documentation in the rightmost column. Points for activities not on the list can still be claimed, and they will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
If you have any questions, please contact me.

Recertification points for ENFHEX Workshops
The following ENFHEX workshops have been Board-approved for 3 points per half-day:
- Development of an Evidence-Based Method for the Examination of Electronic Biodynamic Signatures
- Training Workshop on the Analysis, Comparison and Evaluation of Digitally Captured Signatures
The number of half-days will be made available after next week’s conference.
To assist Diplomates in completing the annual submission form this year, the Board will provide a list of known conferences and workshops, each with the number of earnable points. Stay tuned for a post with this information in the next few weeks!
ASFDE Workshop Points
The following ASFDE workshops have been approved for 3 recertification points each:
- Digital Examination Techniques
- Writing Reports
Please note that, per the instructor, the ASFDE presentation of Digitally Captured Signatures does not include participation by attendees and so does not qualify as a workshop. The upcoming ENFHEX workshop on the same topic will be hands-on and will qualify if it is at least 3 hours. More information on Board-approved ENFHEX workshops and requirements for documentation will be forthcoming.
Upcoming SAFDE Workshop is Board-Approved
SAFDE’s annual conference in Pensacola, Florida includes Kathleen Nicolaides’ excellent workshop on electronic (digitally captured) signatures. This full-day workshop has been approved for 6 points toward ABFDE recertification. Please see the SAFDE website for more information about the conference and workshop.
AAFS Workshop Points
Hello Diplomates,
The Continuing Education Committee has approved the following AAFS workshops for recertification points:
W1: Complete Introduction to Digitally Captured Signatures (3 points)
W16: Technology and Design of Security Documents (6 points)
You will receive information on documentation to submit for recertification soon.
I would also like to introduce our new Recertification FAQ for answers to commonly asked questions. Your Recertification Manager and the Recertification Committee Chair (Tom Riley) are also here to help.
Workshop Points for Recertification
Hello Diplomates,
The application for workshop approval is now online, in the Diplomates menu under Web Forms. The ASQDE’s Digital Examination Techniques workshop has already been approved for 3 points toward recertification (for the 2020-2021 period). We’ll be posting regularly when other workshops are approved.
If you are not familiar with the general process, the workshop instructor completes the application for workshop approval prior to commencement of the workshop. When approved, the instructor hands out a Workshop Attendance Record to each Diplomate attendee. The Diplomate submits the completed Attendance Record with the annual recertification documentation. Please contact the Board if you have questions. For your convenience, there is a web form for Suggestions or Comments for the Board.
